Being a bombshell isn’t about your body shape. It’s all about your body attitude! Give me a woman with the right attitude and I’ll create enough bombshell outfits for her to make Marilyn Monroe jealous.
Now, scroll down to get started on your very own bombshell outfits.
What is a Bombshell Style?
First, the Bombshell style is ultimately glamourous, sometimes to the fault of practicality. It has a luxurious and feminine feel with large influences from the ’40s and 50’s fashion, but it’s not strictly vintage. It’s all about shape and polish. The bombshell is the most strict in the silhouettes she wears. So many of them will make her look too frumpy for her taste. Beit so, the bombshell is the most body-conscious of all they iconic styles.
Why are the Essentials Important for Building Bombshell Outfits?
Now that you understand the essence of the Bombshell look, you’ll see why these essentials are so important.
Having the right basics in your wardrobe is the glue that holds the entire look together. They are the building blocks that give versatility and cohesion to all of your outfits. The elements of the bombshell style are very specific. Pair these 11 overtly bombshell pieces with other things in your wardrobe that are not inherently bombshell and you can achieve a look that is completely bombshell in appearance.
They can be mixed and matched with a multitude of items, creating almost endless possibilities. Did you know you can create 72 different looks with these 11 pieces alone? That’s more than 2 months worth of outfits! Just think of what you can do if you add a few more pieces.

Belted Trench
The first item on the list is the belted trench. It can be thrown on with just about anything. Top off your skirt at work or pair it with your jeans when you’re out running errands. Try out different lengths to see which one is better fitting for your lifestyle. This one is a shorter length with flair to add some volume at the hip, accentuating those curves.
Patent Leather Heels
Second, these patent leather heels are to die for. They are easiest to find in black, but if you’re not a Winter, I would suggest a different color. Navy works well for all the seasons. Beige or nude will do double duty to lengthen the look of your legs. While a neutral color is the most advantageous, you could also use this opportunity to inject a signature color. I caution, only do this if you’re sure you’ll stick with that color. Another option is to go for a leopard print pump to up the wow factor.
Make sure the toe of the shoe is somewhat classic. Pointy toe and square toes tend to go in and out of style, but a moderate-round toe is always in.
The heel should be high enough to be fancy, but not so much that you can’t stand wearing them all day. The look of a beautiful shoe is negated if you’re having to hobble.
Suede Ankle Boots
Thirdly, suede ankle boots. A small feminine detail like a bow on the boot and a slender heel really make these “bombshell specific”. You’ll be able to make a lot of bombshell outfits with these boots. They are a great height to pair with your jeans, skirts or to peek out from underneath some wide-leg trousers.
Ankle-length Slim Jeans
Fourth– ankle-length slim or skinny jeans. I know that skinny jeans won’t be around forever, so if you find them, a slim pair of jeans will probably withstand the test of time better. Opt for a dark rinse for more versatility with little to no fading and absolutely no rips, tears or raveling edges. The bombshell is too polished for such things.
If you have an hourglass figure, wear high waisted jeans. If you want to accentuate the hip, you can wear a lower rise.
Pencil Skirt
Number five is the pencil skirt. This is the most iconic item for the bombshell. Pencil skirts by definition are narrower at the hem than they are at the waist. Many skirts you see online listed as pencil skirts are actually straight skirts. In a straight skirt, the hem is the same width as the hip. That’s what makes the pencil skirt undeniably bombshell. It’s those curves again.
Thin-knit Short Sleeved Sweater
Sixth– the thin-knit short sleeved sweater. Go for a plain one or find one with some delicate detail. I like this one, which has an interesting pattern knit into the sleeves.
Tie-neck Blouse
Next on the list is a tie-neck blouse. Choose a neutral color for the blouse for the most versatility, however, if you are good at sticking to a refined color palette, choose a color for this piece instead. There are so many options out there with different sleeve lengths, tie thicknesses and necklines. Consider your climate and your lifestyle when picking this blouse. It’s best if you’re able to wear it year-round. Be sure to check the care instructions. If the shirt is dry clean only, will you really want to take it to the cleaners often or use a dry clean only solution at home? I prefer items that are washable.
Feminine Camisole
Number eight is a feminine camisole. Adjustable straps are a must. Washable is a must. You want one that you can not only wear on its own, but you can wear it as a base layer too.
Belted Blazer
Ninth on the list is the belted blazer. This is truly the hardest piece to find. Just because it’s belted, doesn’t make it the right blazer for bombshell outfits. It has to have that waist enhancing, curve-accentuating va-va-voom factor. If you can’t find a suitable belted blazer, you could go with peplum blazer or a one-button blazer or single closure blazer instead. This is a good example of a curve-accentuating style that would be perfect, but the print might not work for your wardrobe.
Cardigan
For number ten, look for a cardigan that has a single button at the waist or is cropped at the waist like this one. Here is a vintage looking one with a collar. Another option is this cute short puff-sleeved cardigan. Long sleeves are the most versatile. They are usually fine to wear in air-conditioned buildings during the summer but also good for colder winter weather as well. If you really love the short sleeved one, you could buy one for the summer and a long sleeved one for the winter!
Vintage Everyday Bag
Lastly, but certainly not least is a vintage every bag. I really couldn’t choose just one to show you. There are so many cute options. Here’s a crossbody tweed bag in two color options, a camel colored bucket bag with a ribbon flap design, large handle bag with so many fabulous colors, a kiss lock clasp bag in neutral and fun colors. So many great options!
