What is distinct about this style?

First of all, the American Classic style features clean lines, classic silhouettes, timeless details and symmetry.

Silhouette

You’ll see all the classic silhouettes in the American Classic Style. Shift dresses, sheath dress and a-line skirts are common in this style. If volume is added to a style, it is not so much volume to create a lot of drama.

Line

The American Classic style most heavily utilizes horizontal and vertical lines. Angled lines are also seen commonly in collars and lapels. The lines do not create an edgy look like they do for the rocker. This style may use some curved, organic lines, but tend to favor the simplicity or straight lines.

Pattern

The American Classic uses stripes of all kinds, dots, plaids, checks and may other classic geometric prints. Organic prints like florals may also make an appearance, but usually in an understated way.

Texture

You’ll see a lot of different textures in this style, but the key is that none of them are over the top. In the same manner, you’ll see mostly neutral textures. However, if fabrics with a pile like velvet and corduroy are worn, the will have a shorter length.

Color

This iconic style gravitates toward classic colors as well: black, khaki, red, white, blue or navy.

Proportion

The American Classic style uses very natural proportions.
