Inspirational Body Positive Quotes and Resources to Cultivate a Positive Body Image
Cultivating and maintaining a positive body image in our culture is hard, especially in this day and age with the ever-present social media and advertising. Hundreds, albeit even thousands of images bombard you everyday. Many of these images are created with the sole purpose of making you feel inadequate so that you’ll buy their product. In light of that, it’s so important to surround yourself with body positive quotes and images and positive self-talk.
Honestly, I can’t say that I always feel 100% confident with my body either, especially after having two kids. But I’ve come to realize, it doesn’t matter that I have a ton of cellulite, or a flabby stomach or ______________________ ( I could go on, you fill in the blank). Consequently, what matters is what I think about my body. Am I stressing or obsessing with my floppy bat wings. NO! Rather, I admire the things that I DO like about myself and enjoy life in the process.
In any case, if you struggle with your body, I hope you find the courage and encouragement to make a change. As a wardrobe consultant, my desire is to instill you with confidence; confidence in your clothing choices, confidence in your body which ultimately produces confidence in yourself.

Body Positive Quotes
“Take care of your body and your body will take care of you.”
In essence, our body is a thing to be nurtured and cherished, not tormented and punished.
“Self-confidence is the best outfit, rock it and own it.”
This, certainly, is one of my favorite quotes. Wearing something with confidence will have more of an impact than anything else. That’s why I like to teach people about style. In the hope that knowledge is power.
“It’s not about what size you wear. It’s about how you wear your size.”
Besides, size really doesn’t matter. First, focus on taking care of yourself, good health and clothing fit.
“You were born to be real, not to be perfect.”
This one really gets me especially. I’m a perfectionist in every sense of the word. But it’s really OKAY to not be perfect.
“If you talked to your friends the way you talked to your body, then you’d have no friends at all.”
Above all, have you ever stopped to think about that? Do you call yourself names or put yourself down? In reality, would you want to hang around you?
Body Image Poems
The Skin You’re in Is Beautiful
The skin that you are in is beautiful.
You don’t have to be lighter.
You don’t have to be darker. You don’t have to lose your scars.
You don’t need to hide your stretch marks.
You don’t need to wear makeup unless you like it.
There is no addendum or asterisk to that statement.
The skin you are in is beautiful. Period. End of. - Nakita Gill
Phenomenal Woman
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
’Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
-Maya Angelou
Dear Self
Dear Self,
When you stand in front of a mirror, your hands slide over your skin. Your fingernails never dig into your flesh, but make no mistake. You have never been gentle, and you spend this time ripping yourself apart. You pinch at your belly, and watch until the red marks of your fingers fade away.
Dear Self,
You cannot stop seeing numbers, counting down to nothing. Zero calories in intake. Zero pounds on a scale. A cycle of circles, spiraling into nonexistence.
Dear Self,
You learn how to multitask by calculating calories and studying schoolwork simultaneously. When you can’t count down to zero, you’ll insist that you are a failure. But even the days when you do not berate yourself aloud, you resent everything you are.
But then you realize. You are five pounds lighter than you used to be, and the rest of you is so, much heavier. Made of nothing and made of misery.
So you pull yourself together, and eat a balanced meal for the first time in months. Several weeks pass, but you do stop counting. And when you do, you feel lighter than you ever did. You never realized how much the numbers weighed.
Dear Self,
Hating yourself is easy. It is throwing yourself into the darkness and hoping your bungee cord doesn’t snap. But learning to love yourself, to accept the flaws? That is the journey back up the mountain. Handhold by handhold, sometimes gripping by a single finger. Each movement is momentous. Your own strength hauls your body back up the rock, and when you reach the top, you can see sunlight again.
Dear Self,
You will make it up this mountain. You already have.

Body Image Quotes from Celebrities
“Who cares if there are lumps on my thighs? I’m guilty of having human legs made up of fat, muscle, and skin, and sometimes when you sit, they get bumpy.”
Kristen Bell
As a matter of fact, I absolutely love this candid quote from Kristen. Why do we have these ideal images of beauty that no one can live up to in the first place? Do you know ANYONE that does NOT have cellulite?
“I don’t really care what I look like that much. And I think that women out there should just be happy with how they look and they shouldn’t really try to conform to any stereotype. Just be happy and hopefully healthy.”
Rebel Wilson
In the first place, can I just say that I love Rebel Wilson? I want to be her BFF.
Beauty
Now, let that just sink in a little bit.
“I think so matter what you look like, the key is to first of all be happy with yourself. And the you know if you want to try to improve things that you don’t like about yourself, then do it after you appreciate yourself.”
Adele
In particular, I think Adele said it well. I think there is room to be happy with yourself and still try to be the best version of yourself. If you’re a singer, it’s okay to hire a vocal coach to get better. Likewise, if you’re an aspiring artist, it’s okay to take art classes. We can still work to make ourselves healthier without being so hard on ourselves and our bodies.
Body Positive Bible verses
Romans 12:6
So since we find ourselves fashioned into all these excellently formed and marvelously functioning parts in Christ’s body, let’s just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren’t.
Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Psalms 139:13-16
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
The Body Positivity Manifesto
I get to be me. No one else will. I will love my body despite all the things society tells me is wrong with it. I will be loving to my body from head to toe. It’s the only one that I am ever going to have. I will nurture my body— fill it with good things, surround it with uplifting people and fill my head with positive thoughts. I am not perfect, but I am perfectly me and I am enough.
