Wear the right colors for your face

Just like the clothes and accessories you wear, choosing the right cosmetic color for your face is also important. It will be most flattering if they are chosen from your seasonal color palette. In cosmetics, I believe there is also a lot of overlap in colors within the same temperature meaning that Summers and Winters can wear many of the same colors and Springs and Autumns share some of the colors as well. Even though some of the same colors can be worn for different seasons, the application can be varied to accommodate the contrast of the individual’s coloring. I know I’ve stated it in an earlier post, but Winters have the most contrast, Summers have the least with Springs and Autumns in the middle.

Cosmetic application tips:

If possible, don’t use eyeliner and mascara that’s darker than the ring around your iris. Too dark of a color will overpower you and actually take focus away from your natural beauty. Your natural eye color will not be as visible.  To bring out the color in your eyes, use your eye color as an eyeshadow color. Other good eyeshadow colors are found in your eye; the spokes and flecks. Playing with these colors will bring out the contrast in your eye. Other good eye colors that are complementary to your eyes or the color your veins appear under the skin.

For lips, wear bolder colors in shinier finishes to make your lips look fuller. To make fuller lips appear slimmer, try a nude with a matte finish. Mary Kay has a great variety of colors and finishes, from matte to shimmery or sheer.

Since Mary Kay is my favorite brand, I color coded it first. What brand of cosmetics do you wear? Let me know what it is and I’ll create a list for that brand as well.
